Mogilev Regional Drama Theater is one of the oldest theaters in Belarus. The theater building was built in 1888 and is located in the historical part of the city. It is an architectural monument of the XIX century. Since 2008, the theater building has been included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus. The theater’s repertoire includes more than 50 productions for adults and children. There are 41 artists in the troupe of the theater, among them People’s Artist of Belarus Belotserkovsky Grigory Yakovlevich and Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Galets Vasily Nikolaevich. Since 1997, the theater has been hosting the ensemble of classical and modern music “Impromptu-Classics-Quartet”, whose performances traditionally precede performances on the main stage of the theater. The International Youth Theater Forum “M@rt” is held annually on the basis of the Mogilev Regional Drama Theater.contact.” This forum was founded in 2006. During its existence, 296 performances from 21 countries have been shown. The forum traditionally hosts conferences, exhibitions, performances, readings of plays by contemporary authors, master classes by famous theatrical figures and other cultural events. The theater’s staff is actively engaged in touring and festival activities. Over the years, Mogilev artists have participated in festivals held in Belarus, Russia, Armenia, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Georgia, Poland, Ukraine, Israel and other countries. Since 2018, the Mogilev Regional Drama Theater has been an honorary member of the Silk Road International League of Theaters, which operates under the management of the Chinese Performing Arts Corporation with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China. In May 2020, the theater was awarded the title of “Honored Collective of the Republic of Belarus”. Every year, the theater’s repertoire is replenished with 7-8 new productions. The aim of the project is to create a permanent museum exhibition with an interactive component, which will be aimed at familiarizing a wide range of visitors with the history of the creation and development of one of the oldest theaters in Belarus, outstanding personalities who contributed to the development of theatrical art in Mogilev and Belarus as a whole.
The objectives of the project are: search and collection of archival and personal documents, artifacts, photographs, videos, chronicles related to the construction of the theater, its subsequent historical development; search and collection of archival and personal documents, artifacts, photographs, videos, chronicles concerning outstanding personalities who contributed to the development of theatrical art in Mogilev and Belarus as a whole; design of a permanent museum exhibition; systematization and digitization of accumulated materials.
As part of the project, it is planned to visit archives and other organizations to obtain the necessary information. Development of the layout of stationary display cases, their manufacture, installation and filling. Purchase of an interactive dashboard. Purchase of the Museum Guide software. In 2028, the oldest theater of the Republic turns 140 years old. Also this year marks the 100th anniversary of the creation of a permanent troupe at the Mogilev Theater. For such anniversaries, the museum exposition created can become a real gift for the theater, residents and guests of the city. Audience: theater visitors, including delegations of foreign states participating in the International Youth Theater Forum “М.@rt.контакт “. The results of the project will be: meeting the public demand for more complete and diverse historical and cultural information, increasing interest in Belarusian culture, its outstanding representatives of the past and present.
The established permanent museum exposition will be further replenished with new exhibits, materials and interesting facts at the expense of the theater, partners and sponsors, thereby contributing to greater attention to it..
